how classes work
The classes
Are the classes live?
Yes. Every class happens on Zoom with me teaching in real time. In a group class your teen joins up to five other students. I don't use pre-recorded videos or set modules to watch on their own.
How big are the groups?
Six students at most. That means I hear from every teen in every class, and by the second week I know how each of them learns and where they tend to get stuck.
How much homework is there?
A little, and it always connects to what we did in class. I go easier around exam season, because I know how full a high schooler's week gets at that time of year.
fitting your time zone
Times and schedule
What time would classes be for us?
I can teach at sensible hours for families in North America, the UK and the Gulf. Tell me where you are and when your teen is free, and we'll agree on a time that works for your family.
How does the free trial class work?
It's a free 30-minute class. I run trial classes every week, but the day and time change, so let me know you're interested and I'll email you the options.
What if my teen misses a session?
They can catch up. Sessions are recorded for enrolled students only, and I'll send a short note on what we covered so your teen is ready for the next class.
keeping teens safe
Safety and trust
How do you keep my teen safe online?
Groups are six students at most, I'm there live the whole time, and only enrolled students get in. I never message students on social media, parents are copied on class messages, and I have clear rules for how under-18s use AI tools. The safeguarding page lists every rule.
Who's teaching?
I am. I'm Lalain Majid, and I've taught teenagers since 2021, first in classrooms and now live online. I also run workshops for youth organisations such as Dialogue Academy and Youth Impact.
Can you promise my teen gets into a good college?
No, and I'd be wary of anyone who does. What I can promise is careful teaching, clear feedback, and a teen who grows more confident speaking and writing. Admissions decisions are up to the colleges.
fees and paying
Paying and joining
How do I pay?
After the trial class, I send an invoice you can pay online. You can pay in full or split it into two payments.
What if it's not a good fit?
Tell me before the third session and I'll refund you in full, minus any payment fees. After that, if there's a good reason, I'll refund the sessions that are left.
Do siblings get a discount?
Yes. Mention it when you get in touch.
Can my teen's school pay?
Yes. I can invoice the school directly and send them whatever paperwork they need.
